Limpopo housing to build a home for Caster Semenya

29 Aug 2009

The Limpopo MEC for Local Government and Housing Ntate Soviet Lekganyane is pleased to announce that his department in partnership with Bitline Property Developers will built a brand new home for the family of 800m track World Champion Mokgadi Caster Semenya.

This is done in recognition of her historic win at the recent World Athletic Championship in the context of August being the Women’s Month.

MEC Lekganyane said, “The people of Limpopo are very proud of Caster Semenya’s achievements. As we congratulate and celebrate with her, our mandate as a department dictates that we must ensure that she and her family are properly housed, hence our decision to support Bitline Developers in building them a home. We hope Semenya will continue shine and inspire other young women to greatness.”

Since the dawn of democracy, Limpopo has contributed more than 300 000 homes to the over 2,7 million built by our government since 1994. It means in Limpopo, over 1,2 million people live in homes built by government.

Lekganyane said his department is currently implementing various programmes geared at accelerating the pace of housing delivery by developing integrated and sustainable human settlements.
