MEC Max condemns another shooting of a police officer

31 Aug 2009

The MEC for Community Safety, Advocate Lennit Max today said that the shooting of a police officer in Dieprivier is absolutely shocking, especially as the death of this officer become part of violent crime statistics.

Max said that this callous incident shows once again that criminals have a reckless approach to and no respect for police officers. The officer's death is a great loss to the police and the community.

He urged all police officers to stand their ground and continue the good work of a fallen hero and said that the police will not be deterred from their duty; to protect and serve the people of the province.

He said the law will now take its course as a suspect has been arrested.

Max expressed his condolences to the family of the police officer who died in the line of duty.
