Schools and community cultural festival

On 10 to 13 August 2011, Thabong and Zamdela Community Art centre will be hosting the Lejweleputswa and Fezile Dabi schools and community cultural festival and visual art display at the Ernest Oppenheimer Theatre.

The festival will create opportunities for learners and community groups to participate in a mass participation arts and culture festival. This is a Social Cohesion Project that allows young people to participate and engage in activities that build their social capital and networks and with others, strengthen the learners’ identity, build their self-esteem, develop cultural sense of belonging, close intergenerational gaps and contribute towards building a better attitude to life.

This cultural festival create cultural oneness, foster a sense of belonging that will propel young people towards their artistic goals and develop to their full capacity. In a cultural sense, social cohesion helps young people to become aware of themselves.This Cultural festival will create a space for creative expression among disadvantaged learners and communities. Learners Visual Art products, including the Pam Art Studio, will be displayed to show their abilities in the creative industry. The exhibition will also be open to the public, giving the artist experience in interacting with potential clients.
