Minister Dlamini to address the National Women Conference

1 Aug 2011

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini will tomorrow, 2 August 2011 address the national women’s conference as follows:

Date:   2 August 2011
Time:   9h00-10h00 am
Venue:   Birchwood Hotel-Boksburg (Gauteng Province)

The conference is part of the celebrations for Women’s Month and is organised by the Ministry for Women, Children and People with Disabilities. The Minister’s address will focus on poverty eradication and sustainable livelihoods.

“One of the biggest problems women in our country face is poverty. The complete emancipation of women from the socio-economic conditions that hold them from reaching their full potential is a basic aim of our government”, said Minister Dlamini.

“The objective of this conference is not to list challenges facing women but to make commitments and take concrete steps and identifying goals to achieve the full empowerment of women. Reducing poverty is possible if we invest more in women”, added Minister Dlamini.

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event.
