MEC Mekgwe to meet with retired nurses

Gauteng Health and Social Development MEC Ntombi Mekgwe will tomorrow meet with the provincial retired nurses’ forum at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

The Nurses Forum was launch in May 2010 with an aim of returning them to the system to mentor young nurses and improve their attitudes towards patients. They also assist with improving infection control measures.

Currently, there are retired nurses that have been deployed to assist in school health services, health posts, primary health care and mentoring in public health facilities. Additional retired nurses will be deployed during this meeting.
