Media statement on the special executive meeting of 25 May 2011

26 May 2011

Polokwane: The Executive Council (EXCO) of the Limpopo provincial government held a special meeting yesterday on 25 May 2011. This meeting coincided with the International celebration of Africa Day.

EXCO appreciated the good work done by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in running the third democratic Local Government elections which were held on 18 May 2011. The meeting welcomed the manner in which political parties in the province conducted themselves during the electioneering period that culminated into free, fair and credible elections. EXCO also appreciated the high voter turnout that was experienced on Election Day in the province as testimony to the fact that people in the province are committed to protect democracy of our country.

EXCO made a commitment to give the newly elected public representatives in the local sphere of government orientation on how to provide quality services to communities in an effective and efficient manner. This will be done to, among others, accelerate service delivery to the people and also to ensure that the Limpopo provincial government achieves the objectives of Operation Clean Audit 2014.

EXCO discussed and agreed to the presentation of the framework for the frontline service delivery monitoring and evaluation (FLSDME) from the department of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency of the Republic of South Africa. The presentation focused on, among others, coordination of effective monitoring and evaluation of all the spheres of government in line with the outcome based approach to improve service delivery.

The following appointments were approved:
