Makgoe embarks on National Teachers Awards (NTA) awareness campaign

22 Jul 2011

Free State Education MEC, Tate Makgoe will kick start National Teachers Awards (NTA) 2011 awareness campaign on Friday, 22 July in Paul Roux at Rekgotsofetse Secondary School to encourage best educators producing excellent results to enter for the competition.

Makgoe, who will sensitise educators about NTA in all five districts, says the purpose is to encourage all educators to continually do their best and give recognition to those who strive to improve the quality of education by producing excellent results.

The NTA 2011 now in the eleventh year has grown from strength to strength since its inception.

The NTA has eight categories which are:

  • Excellence in Primary School Teaching
  • Excellence in Secondary School Teaching
  • Excellence in Secondary School Leadership
  • Excellence in Grade R Teaching
  • Excellence in Inclusive Education and Special Needs Teaching
  • Excellence in Adult Education and Training
  • Lifetime Achievement Award

The closing date for the nominations is 12 August 2011. The provincial ceremony will be held on 27 October 2011. Winners will represent the province in the finals next year in February.

Last year three educators, Mr Mphuti (Rekgotsofetse Secondary) Ms Zondi (Mehopung Primary) and Mr Khothule (Dirisanang Intermediate) emerged National winners.

Media is invited to attend.
