Statement by the South African Government following the bombings in Mumbai

15 Jul 2011

The Government of South Africa has learnt with great shock about the news of the terror bombings, which killed and injured innocent lives in Mumbai, India, on Wednesday, 13 July 2011.

The Government of South Africa condemns in the strongest terms these atrocious acts which cannot have any justification at all in an open and democratic society. On behalf of the Government and the people of South Africa, President Zuma extends his heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of India, especially to the victims and their families as they rebuild their lives and deal with the aftermath of these horrendous acts.

For further information please contact:
Mr Clayson Monyela, spokesperson for DIRCO
