177 job opportunities for youth

1 Jul 2011

In an endeavor to develop youth and reduce unemployment, the Eastern Cape Department of Transport is in a process of creating 177 employment opportunities through an internship programme.

Fourty eight (48) of these posts are funded vacant posts for placement of exiting interns as an exit strategy of the Internship Programme. The other 129 posts will be filled in due course because the department is currently recruiting and selecting suitable candidates in the departmental and provincial database. The candidates will sign a 12 months internship contract with the department.

Appointed interns will be deployed in the following directorates: Risk Management, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Finance, Transport Admin & Licensing, Information Technology, Communication, Supply Chain Management, Strategic Planning, Transport Planning, Government Fleet Management Service, Traffic Control, Public Transport and Road Safety.

The aim of the Internship programme is to expose young graduates to the work environment and thus provide them with the necessary work experience. The Interns will receive a monthly stipend of R5 000.
