Celebrating National Archives Week

9 May 2011

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with the Westonaria Municipality will embark on a campaign to mark the National Archives Week in the West Rand.

The campaign promotes the importance of archiving in preserving information about the province and also to workshop stakeholders about the importance of managing records at their workplace.

“Good governance and management of records depends on the ability of the office to function effectively and efficiently. All government bodies need to have ready access to the information they need to perform their services to the public in an accountable and transparent manner,” said the MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile.

Details of the event are as follows:
Date :  Tuesday, 10 May 2011
Time:  09h00
Venue:  Westonaria Municipality Offices
