Department to host hospital boards imbizo

6 May 2011

Deputy Minister of Health Gwen Ramokgopa and Gauteng Health and Social Development MEC Ntombi Mekgwe will host hospital board’s imbizo aiming at improving the delivery of health care services.

The main functions of the hospital board are to ensure accountability of health facility management to the community and responsiveness to the needs of patients and their families.

During this engagement session, political, strategic goals as well as priorities of the department will be communicated in order to ensure a more effective community participation programme and also strengthen the role of hospital board members.

The imbizo will further provide an opportunity for members to share best practices and experiences as well as raise any matters relevant to improving governance of institutions.
