Dispute at Weskoppies hospital resolved

The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development state that the situation at Weskoppies hospital has been resolved.

The dispute that led to the recent strike action by workers was as a result of a “no work no pay” deductions arising from last year’s public servant’s strike.

The resolution reached is that department will refund the employees for over deductions on 11 April 2011. Correct deductions will be made on 15 April 2011.

The department has taken steps to obtain a court interdict to prevent employees from embarking on further illegal strike action.

The department would like to reiterate that patients’ healthcare was not compromised. Patients received necessary treatment and care during the strike.
