Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre hosts 4th Jazz in the Park

22 Mar 2011

The Department of Health's Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre (WCRC) for Persons with Physical Disabilities hosted a Jazz in the Park concert on 20 March 2011, at the Maynardville Open Air Theatre. Acts included performers Amanda Tiffin and her Little Big Band, as well as various other artists.

Three successful jazz concerts were held in April 2008, March 2009 and March 2010. Funds raised at these three concerts assisted the WCRC to implement and continue with their Health and Wellness Centre projects, inclusive of the gymnasium and the hydro swimming pool projects. Both projects focus on clients with disabilities and acts as a valuable resource for persons and Non Profit Organisations in the community. The aim of this year's concert was to raise funds for the continuation and further development of the Health and Wellness Centre.

Tickets were on sale for R64.00 and R80.00 respectively and entry was free for children under the age of seven years.

The WCRC renders services to Persons with Physical Disabilties in the whole of the Western Cape and have identified the need for health promotion and preventative services to cater for the health and wellness needs of clients post-discharged from specialised rehabilitation centres.
