Acting President Motlanthe visits President Mandela at home

The Acting President, Mr Kgalema Motlanthe visited Former President Nelson Mandela at his Houghton home at midday today, 29 January 2011.

At the conclusion of the visit, Mr Motlanthe said President Mandela was doing very well,  in good spirits and resting.  Mr Mandela told Acting President Motlanthe that he was pleased to be back at home and spending quality time with his loved ones.

The Acting President urges everyone to remain calm with the full knowledge that Mr Mandela was receiving the best medical care possible under the supervision of the the Surgeon – General of the South African National Defence Force.  

Government will ensure that the public is kept informed about the progress Mr Mandela was making. Regular statements will be issued to the media as the need arises.
