MEC Patricia de Lille and Mayor Dan Plato to make joint announcement regarding registration of Early Childhood Development Centres

11 Jan 2011

Patricia de Lille, the MEC for Social Development, Alderman Dan Plato, the Mayor of Cape Town, and Councillor Grant Pascoe, Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Social Development, will make an important joint announcement regarding the registration of Early Childhood Development Centres, or crèches, at a press conference tomorrow afternoon.

The joint announcement is the culmination of weeks of planning between the two spheres of government, which began shortly after the MEC and Mayor's signing of the Implementation Protocol Agreement on 11 November last year.

The province and city's plan of action to help legalise unregistered Early Childhood Development Centres in the city will be presented to the media. The Cape Town area has been prioritised because the bulk of unregistered facilities throughout the province are in the city.

Members of the media are invited to attend.

Date: Wednesday, 12 January 2011
Time: 14:00
Venue: Western Cape Department of Social Development, Minister's Boardroom, 7th Floor, Union Building, 11 Queen Victoria Street.
