Class of 2010 in league of their own
6 Jan 2011
The year 2010 has been marred by various challenges and yet the Class of 2010 proved that they are in a league of their own.
Many a province aspires to be number one when the matric results are announced, but to have achieved the best performing province is an enormous achievement. This achievement signifies the team work that the Northern Cape is synonymous for. It indicates that when the challenge was placed in front of everyone, they were equal to the task ahead of them.
It gives us the opportunity to boast, because as a province we even understood the mandate for the achievement of the national improvement on the matric results. We might not be number one in the country, but we are beyond the achievement of the target of 2014.
The Northern Cape Provincial Government wish to further congratulate and salute the Class of 2010, because without their dedication we would not have been able to drastically improve on our results. The lesson they have taught us is that even if you are against the wall you still have the ability to reach for your goal. They have definitely set the pace, because they accepted personal responsibility for their performance. In an abnormal year they were able to normalise the situation towards their own benefit and that of their province.
We further want to commend the MEC for Education and her team for a job well done. You have indeed proved that in working together we can definitely do and achieve more. In acknowledging and appreciating the level of performance of various schools, we remain of the view that the achievement is that of a province that can indeed do more.
We wish to also salute the teachers, because without their dedication we might have experienced a different announcement. All of you are indeed a winning team.
