Premier's Service Excellence and Youth Awards in Ehlanzeni

Premier David Mabuza will deliver the keynote address during the Premier’s Service Excellence and Youth Awards that will take place on 9 December 2010 at Ehlanzeni District ‘s Disaster Management Conference Centre in Nelspruit. Mpumalanga Provincial Government together with the National Youth Development Agency are collaborating to encourage and ensure a high performance from both the public and youth sectors through these awards.

These awards are aimed at rewarding and recognising excellent performance and innovation among the public servants and the youths in the province. The main objectives of these awards are, among others, to support the pursuit of excellent standards of achievements

Since the past nine years, awards of these nature have been bestowed on deserving Mpumalanga citizens who performed beyond the call of duty. The theme for 2010 is, “We belong, We care, We serve”.

The awards are divided into two main categories,namely, the Batho Pele and Youth categories. Batho Pele category is sub divided into three sub categories, that is, education, health and clinics and back office operations. The youth categories is also subdivided into four categories, namely, entrepreneurship and job creation, education, volunteerism and culture, sport and arts.

This year’s three first prize winners in the Batho Pele category will take home gold trophy together with a cash prize of R30 000 each team. The second prize is silver trophy with a cash prize of R20 000 each team. The third prize will be a bronze trophy  that will ensure R10 000 in each  team’s pockets.

The four first prize winners in the youth category will take home a gold trophy and a R20 000 each team. The second prize winners will each receive a silver trophy and a cash prize of R10 000 each team. The third prize will receive a bronze trophy and a cash prize of R5 000 each team.

Members of the executive council, executive mayors, councillors, Senior government officials, sponsors, civil society, traditional leadership and other dignitaries are expected to grace the occasion.
