Jaws nets 23 for outstanding warrants around Rustenburg

9 Nov 2010

Twenty-three motorists were arrested on Monday afternoon by the elite North West Public Safety traffic enforcement unit nicknamed jaws during a special operation around Rustenburg to execute warrants of arrests for unpaid traffic fines.

Close to R10 000 in unpaid traffic fines were recouped on the first day of the province-wide special operation to execute warrants of arrests. The special operations that focus on drunken driving and execution of warrants are to be intensified in the North West Province as part of the National Rolling Enforcement Plan throughout the festive season.

The provincial Department of Public Safety advises motorists to either visit traffic offices in their respective areas to check for outstanding traffic fines or alternatively call the departmental call centre on 018 381 6500 to avoid the inconvenience of being arrested for outstanding traffic fines during the operations.
