Invitation - Teacher Laptop Initiative, Western Cape Launch

29 Oct 2010

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) will launch the national Teacher Laptop Initiative in the province tomorrow, Saturday, 30 October 2010.

A total of 3 500 Western Cape teachers have qualified for the first round of the initiative.

The launch will take the form of a trade show at the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute, Nooiensfontein Road, Kuils River, from 08h30 to 13h00.

Formal proceedings will start at 11h00. Donald Grant, Minister of Education in the Western Cape, will be the keynote speaker.

The trade show will provide teachers with an opportunity to talk to service providers and to learn more about how to use laptops to support teaching and learning. The event will include exhibitions by hardware and software providers and lesson demonstrations using information technology.

The media will be most welcome.
