Gauteng suspends centralised drivers' licence booking system

30 Sep 2010

The Gauteng provincial government apologises to the people of Gauteng for the inconvenience caused by the shortcomings of the centralised booking system for drivers' licence testing.

In view of the persistent problems of the current drivers testing booking system, the Gauteng provincial government has decided to suspend the centralised telephonic booking system and revert to the manual localised booking system.

With effect from Monday, 4 October 2010, all bookings for drivers license testing will be done at local license testing centres. No block bookings will be allowed.

The Department of Roads and Transport will conduct a full investigation into the shortcomings of the current centralised system and make appropriate recommendations regarding the future of the system and any other initiatives to improve efficiency of the drivers testing booking system.
