The Premier of the North West province has appointed a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the dispute around the chieftainship of Bahurutshe Ba Moiloa Boo Ramotshere.

The commission, to be chaired by Judge Zulman Ralph (retired), will commence with its inquiries on 18 May 2009, and will have a period of three months to conclude its investigations. The inquiry will be held at the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality Council Chambers in Zeerust.

There has been a succession dispute since the death of Kgosi Monnaamere J Godfrey Moiloa in 2006. This has culminated in a number of court cases and the appointment of an acting Kgosi (Chief).

There are also allegations of the existence of a descendant of Kgosi Pogiso Grant Ramotshere Moiloa whom it is suggested is the rightful heir to the chieftain of Bahurutshe Ba Moiloa Boo Ramotshere.

The court cases pending before the Mafikeng High Court have not yielded any solutions. In an attempt to find an everlasting solution to this dispute a Commission of Inquiry has been appointed.
