Members of Parliament (MPs) examine Climate Change Mitigation strategies
1 Sep 2010 The Portfolio Committee on Water and Environmental Affairs will, from today till tomorrow, with the Association of European Parliamentarians with Africa (AWEPA) hold a national workshop on Climate Change Mitigation in preparation for the next Climate Change Conference to be held in Mexico. The workshop is part of the Parliamentary Programme for Climate Change Mitigation, which aims to promote legislation and parliamentary scrutiny, as well as regional cooperation in relation to Climate Change Mitigation in the South African Customs Union (SACU) region. The workshop objectives include the promotion of exchange of best practices and latest technological insights on climate change issues between Members of Parliament, Ministries, academics and Civil Society Organisations and to engage stakeholders in the process of policy formulation and legislative review towards equitable low carbon growth and climate change mitigation strategies.
