The Northern Cape Department of Social Development will be hosting the MINMEC meeting from 2 to 3 September 2010. MINMEC as the name denotes, is a forum consisting of the national Minister and the Members of the Executive Council (MEC’s) responsible for social development. The national Minister presides over the forum, which is also attended by the Director-General and the Heads of Provincial Departments. National Entities reporting to the i.e. SASSA and the National Development Agency also attended the meeting.

The main purpose of this forum is to ensure consultation and coordination in implementing the national priorities and achieving national goals. The forum is held on a rotation basis and involves site visits to developmental projects funded by the department at either national or provincial level or by the entities.

The Northern Cape Department of Social Development has identified the following projects to which the national minister and her delegation will be visiting.
