Dates for indigenous games and golden games announced

31 Aug 2010

The dates for this year's editions of two of Sport and Recreation South Africa’s (SRSA's) flagship projects, the indigenous games and golden games have been announced.

The golden games will be hosted by KwaZulu-Natal province and take place in Richards Bay on 25 to 28 October.

The event is for athletes 60 years and older and last year attracted more than one thousand participants.

The indigenous games will be hosted by Gauteng and take place at the University of Johannesburg on 6 to 8 October.

The three day event is held to promote the playing of traditional sports unique to South Africa.

Apart from the competitive codes such as morabaraba and kgadi, there will also be other sports with display matches.
