Department of Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Maria Ntuli to lead business delegation to China

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Maria Ntuli will lead a 35 member business delegation from 7 to 12 August 2010 to the World Expo 2010 Shanghai taking place in China. The delegation comprises business people from the defence, security, arts and craft, and textile sectors, as well as officials from three provincial economic development agencies.

As part of her trade and investment promotion mission in the Chinese city, Deputy Minister Ntuli will address a business seminar that will be attended by Chinese and South African business people. Presentations on trade and investment opportunities available in both countries will be done. The South African business people will get an opportunity to meet with their Chinese counterparts for possible investment deals and partnerships.

Deputy Minister Ntuli will also tour the South African Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo, where the South African companies in her delegation will be showcasing their products and services to visitors. The theme of the six month Expo 2010 Shanghai, which runs from May-October, is "Better City, Better Life". The theme represents a central concern of the international community for future policy making, urban strategies and sustainable development. South Africa’s participation is spread into sub-themes, with different government departments taking the lead for each month.
