A member of the delegation of KwaZulu-Natal Reserve Force collapses and dies during public hearings at Parliament

The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Ms LN Sisulu regrets the passing on of a former member of the Military Skills Development System (MSDS) who after graduation joined the reserve force at Parliament during the public hearings on the Defence Amendment Bill.

The member collapsed while making a submission on the Defence Amendment Bill to Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans today. Despite efforts by Metro Ambulance Service and ER24 to resuscitate the member, she died.

The name of the deceased has been withheld whilst the department is in the process of informing her family of her death. The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Lindiwe Sisulu and the Chief of the South African National Defence Force, General Ngwenya extends their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
