Public service strike

10 Aug 2010

The Northern Cape Provincial Government (NCPG) recognises and respects the constitutional right of organised labour to embark on industrial action. However, while upholding this right, the Northern Cape Provincial Government cautions workers not to engage in the following activities:

  • Committing acts of vandalism on public and private property
  •  Trashing of streets and other public spaces
  •  Intimidating or coercing fellow workers to join the strike.

We trust that a solution will be found in the best interests of both government and workers, and to this end we are certain that workers will be exemplary in exercising discipline and restraint for the duration of the strike.
