MEC comments on possible industrial action by teacher unions

28 Jul 2010

We remain hopeful that a settlement will be reached before any industrial action by teacher unions goes ahead.

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has already developed a comprehensive management plan to deal with the possible teacher strike. The response will be adapted to the length, extent and nature of the stay away, if, such action does occur.

The focus of the plan is to ensure that children remain in school and are given the opportunities to read, write and calculate everyday.
