MEC Pemmy Majodina to open Multi Storey Parkade in Mthatha

Eastern Cape MEC for Roads and Public Works Pemmy Majodina will officially open the Botha Sigcau Multi Storey Parkade on Friday in Mthatha.

The project cost R42 million and has a capacity of 250 parking bays for fleet, subsidised and client vehicles. The realisation of this parkade will help to minimise the theft of government vehicles in Mthatha.

The department has already appointed a private security company to implement strict access control at the parkade.

The project consisting of a seven storey concrete structure started in October 2007 and was completed in April this year. A total number of 66 people were employed throughout the project, which includes 13 women and 25 youth. Local sub-contractors employed 43 persons.
