DAFF is suspending fisheries control officer on charges of alleged corruption and theft

The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) is processing the suspension of a Fisheries Control Officer (FCO) after an arrest was made yesterday Thursday, 10 June 2010.

The official, who is stationed at the Department's Gansbaai Compliance office, is alleged to have been involved in abalone-related corruption and theft.

The official is still in custody and is expected toappear in the Hermanus court today, Friday, 11 June 2010.
