Inauguration of the Second Peer Review Panel of Eminent Persons

5 May 2010

Minister for Public Service and Administration and Focal Point of South Africa’s African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) national process, Mr Richard Baloyi, will on behalf of President Jacob Zuma, inaugurate the Second Panel of Eminent Persons of the African Peer Review Mechanism at the Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday, 6 May 2010.

The Panel of Eminent Persons (APR Panel) oversees the continental conduct on the African Peer Review Mechanism processes and ensures its integrity. Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Chairperson of the APR Forum, H E Meles Zenawi will be in attendance at this inauguration.

The peer review is a mutually agreed self-assessment instrument voluntarily acceded to by the Member States of the African Union with the objective of fostering the adoption of policies, standards and practices that will lead to political stability, high economic growth, sustainable development and accelerated regional and economic integration.
