----------------------------
PRESIDENT MBEKI TO ATTEND NATIONAL HERITAGE DAY IN KIMBERLEY
22 September 2004
Heritage Day 24 September 2004 marks the beginning of the Imbizo Focus Week. Imbizo builds partnerships for implementation of government's mandated Programme of Action. Through Imbizo government is taking the Programme of Action to communities to share ideas on how to join hands to speed up implementation, in a People's Contract to build a better South Africa and a better world.
The theme of Heritage Month is Celebrating Our Living Heritage in the Tenth Year of our Democracy. The challenge that South Africans face as we celebrate ten years of freedom is that of creating social cohesion and equality. Our living heritage can contribute into reconstructing society. The recognition of our common heritage as South Africans serves as an inspiration to bring people and communities closer together.
