- Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: 18th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly, 29 to 30 Jan
President Jacob Zuma is leading a high-level South African Government delegation to the 18th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly. The theme is "Boosting Intra-African Trade”, and high-level political discussion on issues relating to continental integration and intra-African trade present an opportunity for South Africa to lead and shape the approach and future agenda on these important areas.
- Davos, Switzerland: World Economic Forum meeting, 25 to 27 Jan
President Jacob Zuma used the World Economic Forum meeting to market and promote opportunities that abound in South Africa's New Growth Path (NGP).
- State of Qatar: Working visit, 24 Jan
President Jacob Zuma visits the State of Qatar to strengthen political and economic relations between the two countries as well as promote peace and security in Africa.
- New York: United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and UN Global Sustainability Programme (GSP) meetings , 10 to 12 Jan
South Africa will assume the presidency of the UNSC for the month of January 2012. Consistent with the practice of the UNSC, the Office of the President of the Security Council rotates monthly among its members on the basis of the English alphabetical order, and the Council is organised to be able to function continuously.
