- Republic of Mozambique, Maputo: State Visit, 13 to 14 Dec
The visit is aimed at deepening bilateral political, economic and social relations between the two countries. South Africa and Mozambique have strong ties based on geographical proximity, and also given the role played by Mozambique in providing solidarity during the struggle against apartheid and colonial oppression.
- Federal Republic of Nigeria and Republic of Benin: Working visit, 10 to 11 Dec
In Nigeria President Zuma will have consultations with his counterpart, His Excellency President Goodluck Jonathan, with respect to developments within the South Africa–Nigeria Bi-National Commission (BNC), and with regard to regional and continental issues of mutual interest. And Benin's visit is aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relations between the two countries which dates back to the liberation struggle period.
- United Arab Emirates and Oman: Working visit, 13 to 16 Nov
South Africa’s relations with the Gulf States have grown significantly since the mid-1990s. Not only is the Gulf the source of more than half of South Africa’s crude oil requirements, but it has become a major market for South African products, a source of investment and home to a sizeable South African expatriate community.
- Democratic Republic of Congo: Signing MoU for Grand Inga Project, 12 Nov
The MoU aims at starting the development of large scale power generation in sub-Saharan Africa, with particular focus on hydro power resources. The hydro power project will not only benefit the people of Congo but will also benefit the entire African continent.
- Cannes, France: G20 Summit, 3 to 4 November
The G20 has emerged in recent years as a premier forum for global economic policy discussion and coordination. South Africa regards the G20 as presenting a meaningful opportunity for a coordinated response to the global economic crisis, addressing the ongoing European debt crisis and adopting policies that will lead to strong, sustainable and balanced growth.
- Perth, Australia: Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting (CHOGM), 28 to 30 October
The meeting will focus on food security, climate change, mining for development, polio eradication, sustainable development as well as strengthening the Commonwealth institutionally, including through promoting Commonwealth values such as democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
- Maputo, Mozambique: Samora Machel commemoration, 19 October
The first remembrance was held on 17 October in Mbuzini, the site of the plane crash in which the then President of Mozambique, Samora Machel, was killed along with 32 other government officials under mysterious circumstances.

- New York, USA: United Nations General Assembly, 18 September
President Zuma's focus at the UNGA66 included progress on the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the global financial and economic crisis, climate change, reform of international institutions which include the UN itself, promoting the African Agenda, peace and stability in the Middle East as well as promoting South-South relations. He visited Texas to meet with the business community and receive an honourary doctorate.
- Oslo, Kingdom of Norway: State visit, 29 August to 1 September
President Jacob Zuma departs on 29 August for Oslo, Kingdom of Norway, for a State Visit to further strengthen relations between the two countries, at the invitation of His Majesty King Harald V.

- Luanda, Angola, 31st Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, 17 to 18 August
During the summit, South Africa will assume Chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, whilst the Republic of Namibia will hand over its Chairship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to the Republic of Angola.
- Burundi: State visit, 11 to 12 August
South Africa was requested and mandated by the countries of the East African Regional Community to be the Facilitating Country in the peace process in Burundi.
This commitment kept South Africa deeply engaged in Burundi from the mid-nineties to the conclusion of the Peace Process in December 2009.
- South Sudan, Inauguration of the new state of South Sudan, 9 July
The independence of the Republic of South Sudan marks the beginning of a new journey. This historic moment is a fulfillment of the wishes of the people of South Sudan for self determination.
- Sochi, Russian Federation, Meeting of the International Contact Group on Libya, 3 July
The meeting will try to find a peaceful and lasting solution to the current conflict in accordance with the will of the Libyan people.

The 17th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly took place under the theme “Accelerating Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development”.

South Africa’s involvement in the DRC has been aimed largely at assisting the southern Africa country in its post conflict reconstruction and development.

President Jacob Zuma visits Nigeria to attend the inauguration of President-elect Goodluck Jonathan of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- Sanya, China, Third BRICS (Brazi, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Summit, 14 to 15 Apr
The changing global environment has seen a greater political and economic role for the BRICS and other emerging powers. By 2020, the BRICS countries are expected to contribute nearly half of all global Gross Domestic Products (GDPs) growth.
- Tripoli, Libya, African Union's ad hoc High Level Committee meeting, 10 to 11 Apr
The committee is expected to hold meetings with the Libyan political leadership and tasked with finding a political solution to the problems facing Libya currently.
- Nouakchott, Mauritania, African Union’s ad hoc High Level Committee meeting, 9 to 10 Apr
It is anticipated that the Committee will hold discussions on the recent developments in Libya and deliberate on the way forward in fulfilling its mandate.

This summit takes place within the context of consolidating the African Agenda, deepening the regional integration efforts and strengthening the regional governance structures of the SADC.

The AU African Union High‐Level Panel for the Resolution of the Crisis in Côte d'Ivoire, of which President Zuma presented its report to the AU PSC on work they have been doing to attempt to resolve the Côte d'Ivoire impasse.

Members of the African Union High-Level Panel meet to continue with the discussions for the resolution of the crisis in Côte d'Ivoire.
- France: State visit , 2 to 3 March
During the visit President Zuma will also hold talks with the Prime Minister, Francois Fillon, President of the Senate, Gerard Larcher, Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë as well as Bernard Accoyer, President of the National Assembly to discuss various economic and cultural relations.
