Current Positions
Ms Dina Deliwe Pule is the Minister of Communications of the Republic of South Africa since 25 October 2011 and is a Member of Parliament of the Republic of South Africa since 2009.


Academic Qualifications
Ms Pule holds a Secondary School Teacher's Diploma from EC Mango College of Education; a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from University of South Africa (UNISA); a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Communications (Incomplete) and a Certificate in Public Relations from PRISA.


Career/Positions/Memberships/Other Activities
Prior to this appointment Ms Pule has served in various positions including member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) since 2007; member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of ANC; member of the NEC Sub-Committee on Communications; member of the NEC Sub-Committee on organisational Building and Campaigns; member of the NEC Sub-Committee on Political Education; member of the ANC Umrabulo editorial team; member of the NEC Sub-Committee on Economic Transformation; member of the NEC Sub-Committee on State Owned Enterprises and Development Finance Committee and as member of the NEC Centenary Media Sub-Committee.

Ms Pule was a founder-member of the South African National Students' Congress in 1987 and has served as a Secretary of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at EC Mango College of Education between 1987 and 1988 and as the Deputy President of SRC at EC Mango College of Education from 1988 to 1989.

She was also a founder member of the Eastern Transvaal Women's Union between 1990 and 1991; Regional Executive member of the ANC Youth League; Branch secretary of the South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU); and Provincial Secretary of ANCWL in Mpumalanga in the same year 1990 to 1991. She has also served as Provincial Treasurer of the SADTU in Mpumalanga from 1991 to 1993; Branch Secretary of the ANC, Nelspruit from 1997 to 1999; Chairperson of the ANCWL, Nelspruit between 1999 and 2000; and member of Regional Task Team on Political Education and Political Education Officer between 2000 and 2001 and Deputy Secretary of the ANC, Ehlanzeni Regional in Mpumalanga from 2001 to 2004.

Ms Pule has served as a Member of the Legislature in Mpumalanga Province between 2004 and 2005 and has been a Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Education, Culture, Sports and Recreation between 2004 and 2005; Chairperson of the ANC, Ehlanzeni Region in Mpumalanga from 2004 to 2007; Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Safety and Security in Mpumalanga from 2005 to 2007; Deputy Provincial Secretary of the ANC in Mpumalanga from 2005 to 2008; Chairperson of ANC Provincial list Committee in 2006; MEC for Agriculture, Environment and Land Administration in Mpumalanga between 2007 and 2008; Chairperson of the 2010 Mpumalanga Political Task Team for 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup between 2008 and 2009; and as MEC for Sports Arts and Recreation in Mpumalanga from 2008 to 2009.

Ms Pule has served as Deputy Minister of Communications of the Republic of South Africa from May 2009 to November 2010 and as Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Performance, Monitoring, Evaluation and Administration from 1 November 2010 and 24 October 2011.
