Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of South Africa since 01 November 2010.
Ms Thabethe is also Member of Parliament from 1994, Deputy Chairperson of the ANC Womens League in Gauteng Province, Member of the African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Executive Committee of the Gauteng Province Womens League and member of the Ekhuruleni Region of the ANC Regional Executive Committee.
Academic Qualifications
Completed Certificate in Economics with UNISA, and Completed Advanced Diploma in Economics in 2008.

Ms Thabethe served as Alternate member of National Council of Provinces (NCOP) and National Assembly Programme Committee, Alternate member of Chief Whip's Forum, Convener of Human Resources Cluster, Strategy Meeting , Whip's Forum, ANC Womens Parliamentary Caucus, Multiparty Womens Caucus and Parliamentary SADEC Representative. Before being re-appointed she served as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry from 22 June 2005 until 10 May 2009.
