Ntopile Kganyago, Mr

Mr Ntopile Kganyago was Deputy Minister of Public Works of the Republic of South Africa from 10 May 2004 until 10 May 2009. Prior to his his appointment as Deputy Minister, Mr Kganyago was elected a Municipal Councillor in Polokwane and served for four years from 2000 until 2004 and became a member of the Provincial Legislature in Limpopo Province in 2004 and served as a member of Parliament from April 2004.


Academic Qualifications
Mr Kganyago holds a Master's degree in School Psychology from University of Delaware 1989. Prior to that he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of South Africa in 1974; a Bachelor of Education degree from University of the North in 1987.

He completed carpentry and cabinet making course at Bethesda Norman College in 1960; A two year teacher's course at Boitseanape Technical College in 1967; A Guidance and Counselling course with College of Ripon and York St. Johns in Great Britain in 1983; A one year internship training in Educational Psychology in 1992; A short course in Hypnosis in 1999; and a short course in Play Therapy 2003. He Matriculated at Emmerantia Geldenhuys Skool in 1964.


Career/Positions/Memberships/Other Activities
Mr Kganyago worked as Court Interpreter between 1965 and 1966 and as a school teacher from 1968 to 1976. He served as a School Inspector for psychological services in the Department of Education from 1976 to 1980 and he became Head of Psychological Services in the Department of Education in 1980 until 1996.

Mr Kganyago was a member of the Society for Student Counselling in Southern Africa (SSCSA) and a member of the South Africa Society for Clinical Hypnosis (SASCH). He was also a Chairperson of the Seshego Hospital Board for five years and a Chairperson of the Baagi People's Performing Art in Seshego.

He also served as member of the Psychological Society of South Africa (PSYSSA; and member of the Southern African Association for Learning and Educational Disabilities (SAALED). He joined University of the North as Student Counsellor in the Centre for Student Counselling and Development in 1996 until 2004.

He also served as a Branch Chairperson of United Democratic Movement (UDM) and then he became a Deputy President of United Democratic Movement (UDM) and as Provincial Chairperson of UDM in Limpopo.

He is a registered Educational Psychologist with Health Professiona Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
