  • Chairperson of the Joint Committee on the improvement of Quality of Life and the Status of Youth, Children and Disabled Persons Chairperson.
  • Served in the following committees: Appointment of National Auditor-General, Filing of vacancies of the Gender Commission, Appointment of National Public Prosecuter, Appointment of National Youth Commission.
  • National Coordinator for Disabled Women's Development Programme at the Department of Public Service and Administration (1996 - 1999).
  • Participated in the following: National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac) (1996 - 1999); South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) (1996 - 1999); Disabled Children's Action Group; Interparliamentary Union Advisory Committee on HIV and AIDS; and World Blind Union (2000 - 2005).
  • Deputy Minister of Public Works of the Republic of South Africa (11 May 2009 - 24 October 2011).
