Academic Qualifications
  • Attended school at St Peter Claver Primary School.
  • Matriculated at Musi High School in Pimville, Soweto (1975).
  • Obtained a Post-Graduate diploma in Economic Principles (1996).
  • Masters of Science degree in Financial Economics from University of London (2001).
  • Completed an Advanced Management Program (APM), Harvard Business School in Boston, United States of America (USA) (2003).

Career/Memberships/Positions/Other Activities
  • Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Finance and Economic Affairs in Gauteng Provincial Government (1994 - 2004).
  • Joined the African National Congress (ANC) underground structures (1975).
  • Went into exile and became involved in ANC's military structures (1976).
  • Attended a Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) military academy (1982 - 1983).
  • Attended a specialist military course in Cuba (1989).
  • Returned to South Africa following the unbanning of the ANC (1991).
  • Served in the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) (1997 - 2007).
  • He chairs the board of the Public Investment Corporation and is responsible for Financial Services Board.
  • Member of the Local Organising Committee for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
