Single Public Service

The Department of Public Service and Administration leads the process towards a single public service, which is focused on decentralising government services so that they can be easily and simply accessed.

The Single Public Service recognises the distinctiveness of the three spheres of government. The rationale for its creation is to improve collaboration among all government institutions in the three spheres making them accessible, efficient, representative, accountable, sustainable and responsive to the service delivery needs of the South African people. The approach to service delivery will be premised on putting citizens first “Batho Pele”.
