Imbizo Focus Week

13 - 19 October 2003

This Imbizo Focus Week was the fifth since government initiated the Imbizo programme in 2001.

This Focus Week was organised around the theme:Build a people's contract for growth and development [PDF] and put particular emphasis on programmes to expand economic opportunities, including implementation of Growth and Development Summit agreements.

395 events were held throughout the country, to share views with the public on how they can access economic opportunities for growth and development.

The Week coincided with World Food Day, which involved mobilisation of communities for food security, as well as Social Development Month when there will be intensified registration for social grants. In the same period civil servants will be mobilised in the ID and grants registration campaigns.
