Imbizo Focus Week

31 March - 6 April 2003

This Imbizo Focus Week was the fourth since government initiated the Imbizo programme in 2001. The theme was Imbizo: Build a People's Contract for a better South Africa! This expressed the emphasis that government places on the need to work together, in partnership, to ensure that progress to better the lives of all South Africans is sustained and speeded up.

The programme emphasised poverty alleviation. The Focus Week fell within Health Month, and a number of programmes revolved around the provision of quality health care services and expanded access to sanitation, as well as the fight against cholera.
