Imbizo Focus Week

15 - 21 April 2002

The theme of the Focus Week was Lend a Hand! Push back the frontiers of poverty to broaden access to a better life. Over 250 events were organised across all levels of government, compared with just over 100 in the previous Focus Week during November 2001. The aim was to promote participation of the public in government's programme of action for the year and to receive feedback from the people.

Special emphasis was placed on programmes aimed at poverty alleviation through rural and urban development, and at broadening access to social services. Attention was also given to the establishment of food gardens and provision of funding and land to communities for the establishment of such gardens.
