Education in the workplace
Promoting literacy: Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET)
Government has undertaken to continue to broaden access to literacy programmes through its Adult Learning Centres and other providers. Business, labour and the community committed to working with government through Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) for the achievement of the first objective of the National Skills Development Strategy, namely that by March 2005 at least 70 percent of workers will have at least basic literacy and numeracy according to Level One of the National Qualifications Framework.

Learnerships
Learnerships offer training that provides critical skills that help people to get employment or to generate their own income. Learnerships also retrain people both outside and inside formal employment to acquire skills useful for accessing better opportunities for self-growth and development.
