Current Positions
Ms Mildred Oliphant is the Minister of Labour of the Republic of South Africa from 1 November 2010.
She has been member of Parliament since 1994 and regional Convener of African National Congress Women's League(ANCWL) of North Coast from 2008; member of KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Executive Committee since 2008 and Provincial Treasury of ANCWL since 2008.


Academic Qualifications
Ms Oliphant holds a Certificate in Macroeconomics and a Certificate in Project management.


Positions last held/Career/Memberships/Other Activities
She has served as a Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Services; Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Land and Environmental Affairs; Chairperson of the Joint Rules Committee; Chairperson of Joint Programme Committee and Chairperson of the Joint Ethics and members Interest.

She was also a member of KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature; member and Convener of Health Study Group at KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Legislature; member of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) and provincial Whip; regional Secretary of ANC North Coast region; Local Treasury of SACCAWU; Local Secretary of the Congress of South African Trade Union (COSATU); Chairperson of COSATU Women's Forum; and regional Chairperson of the ANCWL for the North Coast region.
