Current Positions
Mr Tokyo Mosima Gabriel Sexwale is the Minister of Human Settlements of the Republic of South Africa from 11 May 2009. He is a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) and a member of the Brookings Institution's International Advisory Council (IAC) since 2007.


Academic Qualifications
Mr Sexwale did Business Studies at the University Botswana (UB), National University of Lesotho (NUL) and Swaziland and he was awarded an Honorary Technical Doctorate from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom of Great Britain (UK).


Career/Positions/Memberships/Other Activities
Mr Sexwale has served as a Chairperson of the Arcus Gibb Engineering Consultancy; Chairperson of the Rand Mutual Group of Companies; Chairperson of the Trans Hex Group Ltd; Chairperson of the MOCOH Energy; and Chairperson of the Northam Platinum.

He has also served as a Chairperson of the African National Congress in Gauteng Region from 1991 to 1997; and Ex-Officio member of the African National Congress National Executive Committee from 1991 to 1997. He was a Non-Executive Director of ABSA Bank Group from 2001 to 2008 and an Executive and Non-Executive Chairperson of the Mvelaphanda Holdings Diamonds, Platinum and Energy during the period leading from 2002 to 2007.

Mr Sexwale has also served as a Non-Executive Director of Altech; a Director of the De Montfort University, UK; a Director of the Desta Power Matla; a Director of the Voltex; a Director of the Gold Fields Ltd and as a member of World Cup 2010 Preparatory Committee in 2004.
