The Gazette is an official Government publication. Government uses it to publish acts and bills, regulations and notices in terms of acts, changes of names, company registrations and deregistrations, financial statements, land restitution notices, liquor licence applications and transport permits. Board and legal notices are also published in the Gazette; these cover insolvencies, liquidation and estate notices.

Where do I find the National Planning Commission's Diagnostic Overview?

The National Planning Commission released the Diagnostic Overview [PDF] on 9 June 2011. It is available on the South African Government Online website as well as on the National Planning Commission website. This overview introduces a detailed diagnostic report that sets out the key challenges that we as South Africans confront in fighting poverty and inequality and in achieving the objectives set out in the Constitution.

How do I download documents to my PC?

First of all ensure that you have Acrobat Reader 4 or higher installed on your computer. Many documents are presented in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format to preserve the original layout. To open PDF documents, you need Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.

Now follow the relevant set of instructions to download documents.

Internet Explorer users
  • With your mouse, right click on the link to the document you want to save
  • Choose 'Save Target As' in the drop down menu that appears
  • In the 'Save As' window select the location on your hard drive where you want to save the document to
  • Click on 'Save' and the document will now be downloaded to the location you specified
  • Now open the Acrobat reader application and open the document you have saved.
Netscape users
  • With your mouse, shift + left click on the link to the document you want to save
  • In the ‘Save as' window choose the location on your hard drive where you want to save the document to and click on the 'Save' button
  • The file will be downloaded to the location you specified
  • Now open the Acrobat reader application and open the document you have saved.

What should I do when I experience problems downloading documents?

Ensure that you have Acrobat Reader 4 or higher installed on your computer.

To preserve the original layout many documents are presented in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. To open these documents you need Acrobat Reader 4 or higher installed on your computer. The Reader will open documents directly in your browser.
