International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day

World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, celebrated on 8 May each year since 1948, falls on the birthday of Henry Dunant, the founder of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Movement has grown to become the largest international humanitarian aid organisation in the world.
