Read the State of the Nation Address. The speech is now also available in all official languages.
State of the Nation Address implementation programme: President Jacob Zuma will from this week continue with activities aimed at implementing the programme of action outlined in the State of the Nation Address (SONA).

A booklet [PDF, 1,7 MB] on the State of the Nation Address gives more information on Government's Programme of Action, as set out in the address.
Cluster media briefings following delivery of State of the Nation Address are held from 15 - 24 February. These briefings provide more information on Government's programme of action for 2011/12.

This annual fundraising event takes place after the State of the Nation Address and benefits several rural children in education up to tertiary level. |

Background
The State of the Nation Address was first presented at 19h00 in 2010 to afford all South Africans, especially the workers, students and school children an opportunity to watch the proceedings in their homes after hours.
The theme of the 2011 State of the Nation Address is “Celebrating the legacy of freedom through strengthening the link between Parliament and the People”.
