Social Development Month
1 - 31 October 2009
October marks Social Development Month, which highlights programmes aimed at fighting poverty and building a caring society for a better life. Social Development Month is being launched on 1 October. A number of activities to mark the importance of this month will take place throughout the country. They include the Golden Games in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape on 27 and 29 and the World Food Day event in Giyani, Limpopo.
Highlights during the month include International Older Persons Day (1 October) World Food Day (16 October) and International Poverty Eradication Day (17 October).
